While walking along Damrak in Amsterdam, I recorded the surrounding sound environment as it unfolded in relation to my moving body. The binaural recording technique captures sound as a situated and embodied experience, preserving spatial depth, directionality, and proximity as integral components of the work.

By recording while in motion, the work foregrounds listening as a performative act, where sound is shaped by bodily orientation, pace, and interaction with the urban environment. The resulting audio material functions not as a documentary representation of place, but as a spatial composition emerging from movement, attention, and acoustic perspective.

https://dantommi.net/MyWorks/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/damrak.mp3

____________________________________________________________

Here is a webcam from Amsterdam nearby where I recorded my piece.

https://webcam.nl/amsterdam/

Using a self-built binaural microphone, I recorded the sound environment while walking along Damrak in Amsterdam.
