Tap-To 2005

My sound piece tap-to was broadcast in 2005 as part of Dexter Bentley’s radio programme Hello Goodbye: One Minute Wonders. The programme constituted the sixth and final instalment of the series and was aired on Resonance 104.4 FM on Saturday 27 August 2005.

The sound material for the piece was recorded in Yerevan, Armenia, and consists of water pipes producing abrupt percussive impacts and hissing resonances. Treated as a sonic material rather than a representational recording, the sounds foreground water as an infrastructural and acoustic presence within the urban environment.

The title Tap-to refers to a state of awakening or transition, suggesting a moment of activation rather than a completed action. In this sense, the work aligns with my ongoing engagement with sound as a material process and with water as a medium through which temporal, spatial, and bodily shifts are articulated.
