I created this 3D video installation in the cube located just outside Stora Teatern on Avenyn in Gothenburg, shortly after the protests during the EU summit in 2001, often referred to as the Gothenburg Riots. The cube was a room made entirely of glass, with simultaneous projections on all sides.
At the center appeared a three-dimensional image of a stone, modeled from one of the stones thrown during the riots. Suspended in an empty space, the stone repeatedly struck the glass walls without breaking them.
By placing a stone inside a glass structure, the installation referenced the proverb “those who live in glass houses should not throw stones,” transforming it into a reflection on democracy and freedom of expression: a transparent yet fragile framework in which protest is both necessary and constrained.
